Description - PDF Spec Sheet
Xintekvideo's Picture Quality Restorer Model VP1000 is a state of the art signal processing system that significantly improves the picture quality of video signals contaminated by impulse noise, dropouts, FM threshold noise, "sparkles," white noise, and other unwanted random interference.
It is ideal as a satellite or microwave link threshold extension system, as well as for the restoration of picture quality from poor signals from old tapes or films. The Model VP1000 essentially removes all short duration electrical impulse noise and video dropouts and reduces any random noise interference by up to 9 dBs, using Xintekvideo's proprietary VIP technology (Video Improvement Processor).
The system takes analog composite NTSC video signals and converts them to digital signals. All processing is then performed on the digital signal. Every video pixel is analyzed and a differentiation between video information and noise or other disturbances is made using multidimensional correlation techniques. Statistical characteristics of unwanted noise and interference are utilized to determine their presence and to differentiate between video moving details and noise.
When the circuits determine that a particular video pixel has noise perturbation or other errors, and the motion circuits determine that such perturbations are not due to motion, the pixel in error is appropriately corrected or the perturbation is attenuated. The VP1000 features separate controls for luminance and chrominance random noises, impulse noise and different types of dropouts. This permits process optimization for a wide variety of conditions and different types of disturbances.
The unit is fully self contained. It takes baseband NTSC color video signals IN and it outputs a processed NTSC color signal. Hardwire bypass occurs in the event of power loss.
